K’Shana Hall is a Mixed Media Artist and Photographer

K'shana Hall is an African American artist working in mixed media and photography. She was born on the south side of Chicago but was mostly raised in North Louisiana. Her method of expression is predominately abstract and is heavily influenced by her African American culture and experiences as a black woman in the South. Her use of mixed media and incorporation of poetry gives her work its unique style, and she has been featured on fashion runways and museums. Her latest series, "It Shouldn't Be Revolutionary: An Exploration of Rest and Taking Care of black women," was a contribution to the group exhibition Many Rooms: The South Got Something to Say, and the extended series was featured as a solo show at Masur Museum in Monroe, LA. The series calls forth a need for care and restoration for Black women in a world that demands the continued extension of their physical and emotional labor and incorporates some of her literary workings into select pieces. She was awarded Louisiana’s Region 8 2023 Visual Artist of the Year and also the recipient of the 2023 ULM Women’s Symposium’s Kristin Chandler Rising Professional Award. K'shana has also worked with the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council to help educate youth about the importance of art and is a University of Louisiana at Monroe alumna. She currently serves as the vice president of the Black Creative Circle of Northeast Louisiana, a non-profit whose mission is to support North Louisiana black creatives in all disciplines and encourage their visibility and success.
